GRAND MARSHAL FOR NOBLESVILLE JULY 4TH FESTIVITIES ANNOUNCED
 
(Noblesville, IN)…..Mayor John Ditslear has announced that Noblesville resident Chuck Layton will serve as the grand marshal for the 2014 Noblesville July 4th parade.  Born in 1928, Chuck served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He and thirty-six other American soldiers were captured and held as prisoners of war in a small mud hut from November 1951 to February 1952, one of the coldest winters ever recorded in Korea.  Led by Chuck, the POW’s created an escape plan and one night, all thirty-seven men escaped, were spotted by a plane, and were reunited with American troops the next morning.  For his role in orchestrating and leading the escape,
